When life goes a little bit pear shaped!

Covid-19 is not the first time that life has gone ‘pear shaped’ for many of us, and that includes artist Fiona Foley who found it was extremely difficult to find a job in the area she had studied when Ireland was hit by a recession after she graduated from college in 2012. As Fiona told us, ” I have always had a passion for illustrating and designing so I decided to return to college to study Graphic Design & Illustration in St. John’s Central College. I completed a one year course that gave me all the tools I needed to set up my own illustration business. I can’t speak highly enough about the course and the staff in St. John’s Central College. I think sometimes, things do go ‘pear shaped’ or not how we plan, but it does work out in the end. I decided to call my illustration business Pear Shaped Studio for that reason.”

Fiona works from her cottage near the Gearagh, on the outskirts of Macroom, and illustrates vibrant higgledy-piggledy buildings of Cork City to picturesque landscapes across County Cork, in her colourful, quirky and distinct blocky style. Fiona also has a passion for children’s art which she captures through her whimsical style. In addition, Fiona creates fine art prints, greeting cards and accessories, and is available for commissions such as her quirky illustrations of people homes which make a perfect and unique personal gift.

Pear Shaped Studio illustrations can be found in her stockists in Cork City, via Instagram, facebook and her online Etsy shop or you can contact her directly via email pearshapedstudio@gmail.com
