People’s interest in IT is gaining momentum and many older people have now acquired laptops, tablets and Ipads to keep in contact with family and friends and to take a tour of the online shops and services. Emailing is also popular because it is faster and cheaper than the conventional snail mail people have depended on down through the years. The Internet is a valuable research/learning tool and helps people to keep the brain active as well as giving them an opportunity to pursue various hobbies. Customary training can often leave the senior learner bewildered and struggling to keep up in the classroom setting. ‘Community Connect’ computer training is on-going and will resume in Blarney for anybody wishing to conquer that new device delivered at Christmas. There is a small charge of €20 for four weeks (2 hours per week). Individual attention is assured and people learn at their own pace, receiving as much support as they need.
