All feeling very postitive at Scoil Chroí Íosa!

Feeling positive at Scoil Chroí Iosa as we fly our amber flag! Our school was awarded the Amber Flag for ‘Wellness and Suicide Prevention’ on Friday 1st May. Members of the wellness committee went to Rochestown Park to receive the flag along with principal Mary Magner and wellness co-ordinators Ann Fitzgerald and Finola Crowley. Munster Rubgy legend Alan Quinlan gave a very moving speech and presented the committee with the flag. While on the day over 90 schools and universities received flags, we were one of the very few primary schools to be presented with this award. It is a huge privilege for us to receive the flag.

Cork City Sports. Outstanding Achievements at Cork City Sports again this year. With over 6,000 children taking part from all over Cork City and county, some of the pupils from Scoil Chroí Íosa secured Gold and Bronze medals. The judges were spoilt for choice with an array of delicious baking. Well Done to all budding bakers, a very high standard was set. Congratulations to Emma, Laura & Holly on winning with their delicious Lemon Drizzle Cake.

1st Class. The Pupils of 1st Class have been using their imaginations this term and have made their own story books. Ms Humphreys has done a super job binding them all together so now they have their own little story books. They have also been taking in the fine weather and enjoying storytime in the sun.

Junior Infants. Summertime preparation is in full swing in Ms Fitzgerald’s Junior Infants, they even made brownies as a treat for a Summer picnic.

2nd Class. Congratulations to Ms O’ Flynn’s First Communion Class who recently received their sacrament. It was a beautiful day and service. Thank you to Mrs Tobin for returning to play the music on the day.

Rang 6. The staff of Scoil Chroí Íosa would like to wish Rang 6 the very best of luck as their year comes to a close. While most are staying close to home some are going a little further afield to schools in town and Ballincollig. We wish them well. We hope they will continue to work hard, be the best that they can be and enjoy the positive opportunities that life will throw at them.

Zumba. The children of 2nd, 3rd & 6th Class took part in Zumba this term. Danny Payne (Zumba Teacher) had a fantastic way of teaching the children the many dance routines incorporating all the different regions of the world.
