Local paralympian Angela Lyons is hoping to ride all the way to the Paris Paralympics with her horse Tommy despite breaking her pelvis, hip, and femur after falling from a horse at just 14, undergoing a painful hip replacement and losing the use of her lower leg. While recovering, Angela developed pains and fatigue and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and suffered further complications with major surgery in her 30s to replace her hip tearing a tibial nerve. Not letting that deter her, Angela got back into the saddle and has since won eleven national awards for para equestrian dressage, and nearly 20 years on is ready to tackle the three qualifying events and go all the way to Paris Paralympics this August. In order to qualify, however, she first has to attend three international events, costing up to €2000 each. You can help Angela get to Paris by donating to get GoFundMe, and follow her ’team Tommy’ journey on Instagram
