A bit of ‘Imagination’ is making wonderful things happen at Inniscarra Community Centre with the announcement that national broadband company, Imagine, is now providing FREE High Speed broadband to Inniscarra Community Centre. The package provided by the Irish broadband provider, which included free installation and free of up to 150MB broadband, is part of the company’s Connecting Communities Initiative and was launched at the St Patrick’s Day parade. The community centre is run by a voluntary board of Directors and set on 40 acres of land. Many local clubs and groups use the excellent year round facilities which include pitches, meeting rooms, a sports hall and kitchen, all weather pitches, and tennis courts. With the new Imagine Broadband hub installed in the centre they can now also offer a hot desk facility to those in the local community. Local Senator Colm Burke said, “ It is great news for the local community as Imagine launch the Broadband Hub for Inniscarra Community Centre. Thanks to the management at Inniscarra Community Centre, Imagine Networks Services Ltd, Minister Heather Humphreys and Cork County Council for helping to deliver this service for those in the local community who require access to broadband. It is extremely important that every effort is made to fast track the provision of Broadband connections to premises that need it the most.” Local Councillor Michael Looney added, “ It is a wonderful achievement to get the connection and it now opens new horizons for the centre and the services they provide to the community. Access to high speed broadband is as important as the post office was long ago.” Imagine’s high speed, high capacity hybrid broadband network now covers over 121,000 homes and businesses in rural Cork including 45,174 in the amber intervention areas.
