Kathleen leads the way

It’s that time of year again with many people pledging to move more and eat less, or resolve to take up a new sport or hobby, and RTE’s Operation Transformation is back to help you with that resolve! Representing Cork is Kathleen Hurley Mullins, described by The Examiner as ‘a woman of many talents’, Kathleen is a beautician, salon owner and farmer who lives on her farm in Carrignavar with husband Tony and their two children. Kathleen stole viewers’ hearts in the first episode when she shared the story of her sister Susan’s sudden passing due to ovarian cancer in 2020, shortly before Kathleen her own ovaries removed due to a benign cyst. The surgery was a success but nonetheless plunged her into early menopause. which she says shattered her confidence. “I’ve tried to lose weight before and I get to a certain stage and everything stops. It’s as if there’s something inside of me that feels I don’t deserve it,” the Carrignavar woman told programme host Katherine Thomas, “I don’t want anything to stop me this time. Susan has given me a lifeline and I want to use it.” Good luck Kathleen!
