Deireadh Fómhair translates as October in Gaeilge. However, the literal translation means ‘The End of the Harvest’ in the ancient Brehon calandar. Deireadh Fómhair for us in Scoil Chroí Íosa is a time of industrious academic endeavours. October sees our scholars engaged in great learning progression. Autumn is the busiest season for teachers. Many readers will have noted that our school car parks are still occupied long after the closing bell has rung. The implementation of the school curriculum in a coordinated and effective fashion requires many meetings between staff. Teachers plan their yearly calendar and ensure that the school educational policies are adhered to. In doing so, we in Scoil Chroí Íosa assure that each and every child in our care will reach their full academic potential and that, overall, our school is noted for educational attainment well above the national average. Ní obair gan sos é, ní griothal ar fad é! We as a school still find time to enrich the children’s social and emotional development and increase their awareness of the wider environment. Our Junior Classes have enjoyed visiting the school gardens, we have even acquired some poultry over the summer and the youngsters are busily pondering the ‘chicken or egg’ conundrum. Our athletes in the senior school are currently engaged in the Sciath na Scol football championship. Great appreciation is due to to Mr. Burke and Mr. O’Leary for giving of their free time to games development within our school and community. We, as a school and community, also owe gratitude to Blarney G.A.A. Club for continuing to invest in the schools coaching programme. Our 6th class were recently afforded a special treat. They were invited on a tour of our Anglesea St. Fire and Garda Stations. The learning and fun that was had will go down in lore. We highly recommend checking out photographs of many of our extracurricular activities on the Muskerry News Facebook page. We must also thank the parents of the children in our care. As a school, we cannot achieve what we do without the continued cooperation and support we receive from you, the children’s parents, and from our Parent’s Association. Should you wish to meet with the your child’s teacher or the principal please ring the school for an appointment and we will do our utmost to facilitate you. School can be a scary place for this correspondent at the best of times, and as we reach the Halloween Festival we promise that the children will enjoy a few ghoulish surprises and fun.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir. Tá súil againn go bhfeicimid shibh i rith Mí na Shamna.
