New members always welcome at Muskerry Rugby Club

Adult Rugby Our first team had their first competitive game against Skibbereen on Sept 11th in the County Cup winning 17-3. They kicked off their league campaign at home to Newcastlewest with a 15-14 win thanks to a last minute try from super-sub Dave Hennessy. The following week they travelled to St Senan’s in Shannon but lost 14-10 in a nip and tuck encounter The Junior Development team reached the Muskerry Cup final but lost out to a strong Sunday’s Well outfit in terrible weather conditions. They opened their league campaign with a trip to Cahirciveen on October 2nd to play Iveragh Eagles but were unlucky to lose 22-17 to the Kerrymen. Our adult teams train every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30 and new and returning players are always welcome.

Ground developments There are three elements to the ongoing development of our grounds at Ellis Park in Ballyanly Community Centre: 1. Our new sand carpet based pitch and training area: The grass is now growing and footpaths are being put in place. This will be ready for the start of the 2017 season. 2. The development of the new pitch at the rear of the club house. This has been ploughed, leveled, reseeded, and goalposts have been erected. It has already been used for training and is now and it is now ready to host its first matches. 3. An extension of our car park and a repositioning of the area used for the Leprechaun rugby

Underage rugby Minis: Muskerry Rugby Club’s pitches at Inniscarra Community Centre are a hive of activity at 10.30 on Saturday mornings as the mini rugby season is in full swing. Mini rugby caters for U6’s to U12’s and new and returning players are always welcome. Games are non-competitive with the emphasis on skill development and team work. Youths: Our youth teams (U13 – U18) are back with a bang, and the U14, U16, and U18 leagues are up and running while our U13s have had some great results as they adjust to 15 a-side rugby.
