There was a huge turnout for “Switch on Christmas 2015” in Ballincollig on Friday evening. Ballincollig Credit Union sponsored the event and Niamh Buckley addressed the crowd on their behalf. Tesco Ballincollig also sponsored loads of sweets for all the children present and the Ballincollig Farmers Market was in full swing late into the evening. The crowd was entertained by the 70 strong GaelScoil Ui Riordan Choir with a mixture of Christmas Classics and up to the minute pop tunes. The lights were officially switched on by Louise Maxwell the Belle of Ballincollig and ably assisted by Mrs. Clause aka Kimberly Clifford. Mickey and Minnie Mouse as well as Minion and Ronald McDonald were also present. Emer Cassidy Chairman BBA thanked the wonderful performers and their teachers. She also went on to launch the 12 Days of Christmas Shopping Promotion which Ballincollig retailers are running with daily prizes on offer though the Ballincollig.ie Facebook page. Ballincollig will continue loads of festive fun in the run up to Christmas with Christmas music playing on the streets all through December so come and shop local for Christmas 2015!
