Firstly, a message of thanks to all of you who have supported Blarney Community Council in anyway throughout the year. Be that as a volunteer with our wonderful Tidy Towns group, engaging in charity events, using the Community Hall, or in fact any voluntary activity in Blarney. Please keep giving us ideas and feedback both on facebook and personally to any of the committee members, we really welcome your contribution.
At this time of year, it is also important to thank all our Sponsors, and actively encourage all in the Blarney area to support locally. Be that the businesses around Ashdale House and BFS, Credit Union and St. Annes Road, or in the village centre itself. And in the unlikely event you still can’t find what you are looking for locally a voucher is always a lovely gift. These are the business that your children or grandchildren may be looking at for their first job, so let’s get behind them.
We were delighted to host a workshop given by mental health advocate Graham McCormck for ‘Shine A Light’, organised by Cllr Damian Boylan. Graham is an excellent speaker on mental health, bullying, drugs and alcohol, addiction, social media and the many challenges that face the next generation. He’s often heard on the radio and television and we were really lucky to have him in the village.
It would be remiss of me and the committee not to send our condolences to the family of our former Chairman, Joe O’Callaghan, who passed away recently. Ar dheis Dé go Raibh a Anam
Finally, may I take this opportunity, on behalf of Blarney Community Council, to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas.
