A campaign to raise funds for a life-changing operation for little Jerry O’Shea from Vicarstown has succeeded beyond all expectation. Trish Dorgan, the big hearted owner of Visionfitness360, undertook to orgainse a 24 hour fundraiser completing four miles, every four hours, over 24 hours with club members and friends. The event, which took place at the Gaelscoil Mhuscrai, starting at 12 noon and finished at 12 noon the following day. Jerry was born at 29 weeks weighing 1.6kg and diagnosed with a brain injury at four weeks old which led to a diagnosis of right hemiplegic spastic cerebral palsy. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) is an operation used to reduce spasticity in some children with Cerebral Palsy and Jerry has been accepted for this surgery at St Louis Children’s Hospital in the USA.
