Spring has Sprung in Berrings National School.

The season of Spring has been a very busy one here in Berrings National School. To kick start the celebrations of Seachtain Na Gaeilge a visiting theatre group performed a bilingual version of ‘An Chocaillín Dearg’. Bhí atmaisféar croíúil spraíúil le brath thart timpeall na scoile agus bhain chuile dhuine an chuid- taitnimh as !

Our local hero Máiread O’ Mahony paid us a visit , bringing with her five Olympic medals from the recent transplant games in Perth. She was given a rapturous  welcome by all the children and staff in Berrings National School. The children sung a song to her that was written about incredible achievements  – She was very impressed!

Our annual Easter raffle took place much to the joy and excitement off all the children. A huge thank you to the Parents Association who organised the tickets and the prizes.

Junior Infants made the most of the recent dry spell and brought their learning to the Outdoor Classroom. They planted cress seeds and discussed the ideal conditions for plant growth! The green fingered children of Class 1 were busy too planting seedlings  in the school garden. The Junior Infants also got the opportunity to visit a local farm. Thank you so much to Farmer Brian O’ Mahony for teaching the children all about being a farmer.

Book DayWorld Book Day was marked with several activities including character dress up, quizzes and buddy reading.
