The magnificent grounds of Blarney Castle never looked better than at 4.15am last Saturday morning when more than 2000 walkers walked quietly from the darkness into the light in aid of Pieta House. This night full of love and hope was made possible by Charles, Caroline and Paul at Blarney Castle estate; Jim and Valerie Blarney GAA Healthy Club for keeping the show on the road; Blarney Gardai Sergeant Mark Dempsey and Community Garda Sean O’Dwyer; Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Damian Boylan and Pio Cafferkey at Mallow Road Motors; all who welcomed our walkers on the morning, and those who stewarded and kept everyone safe, decorated the grounds, GAA club and village so beautifully. Thanks also to all at Blarney Castle Hotel, Muskerry Arms and Centra for opening early for that all important post walk coffee and breakfast! To all who made it happen, thank you, you’re very special people!
