when, for the first time in three years, the Blarney & District Person of the Year awards were held in person. The highlight of the social calendar, the awards were attended by an invited audience of 150 people representing all sectors of Blarney society. The winners on the night were, as Deputy Lord Mayor Damian Boylan who founded the awards thirteen years ago with John Henchion and Kate Durrant, said, ‘…all twelve monthly award winners for their huge contribution through sport, volunteerism and business.’ The Blarney & District Person of the year for 2022 was named as Inniscarra man John Connolly with his award being collected by his son Kieran who gave a moving speech, with the wonderful Blue Hat being inducted into the Hall of Fame, following a hilarious and unscheduled visit from ‘An Taoiseach Leo Varadka’ and the ‘Healy-Rae brothers’, courtesy of the talented All Ireland winning theatre group. pics Iga Sasiela Blue Door Photography
