The December 2022 Blarney & district person of the month award can only go to the Blarney GAA Junior B team!
Our last, but certainly not least, award this year goes not to a person but the Blarney GAA Junior B team, and the equally important team behind them, who won the Cork County Junior B Inter-Divisional Football final recently at Parc Ui Chaoimh.
Captained by Keith Costello and with a back room team of Timmy Duggan, Colm O’Connor, Mark O’Leary, Sean O’Grady and Shane Spillane, Blarney edged out Fr O’Neill’s in the Bons Secours Hospital Cork County Junior B Inter-Divisional Football final, making history for the club and bringing home the first football County title since the clubs inception in 1884.
The decider was a very enjoyable game played in the right way by two passionate teams with both teams fighting to make history for their respective clubs with Blarney ultimately taking home the win finishing on a scoreline of Blarney 4-6 Fr O’Neill’s 2-11.
