Blarney Community Council have big plans!

At Blarney Community Council we held our regular monthly meeting with plenty of excitement for future plans. Plans are already underway for 2023 and we are hoping the St. Patrick’s Day parade will be back, bigger and better! If you have ideas or would like to be involved with this fabulous community event than please get in touch. For anyone who doesn’t know we are based in the Old Covent Hall which is home to a myriad of classes and activities that you may not be aware of. From badminton to dance, to Cork Pride meetings and Blarney Brass and Reed Band rehearsals. Yoga, photography and guitar lessons too, you’d be amazed what goes on behind our doors! We would love to see community night or day classes such as art, chess, dance, open to all ages and ability levels, taking place. We thought that allotments in the grounds would be a lovely idea too. So we’re opening it up to you, the people of Blarney. You bring the idea and the energy and enthusiasm and let’s see what we can do together. Now that life is opening up again, maybe now is the time to take up their hobby, learn that skill and do all those things you promised yourselves, we’d love to hear what you would like to see happening in this wonderful community space. We will be putting a survey up on our facebook page so please log on and let us know what you would like to see and we’ll work with you to try and make it happen.

Congratulations to our treasurer Ray Dennehy for his well deserved Blarney & District Person of the Month award for his superb work as Team Medic to the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART). Ray works hard for Blarney Community Council, Blarney Tidy Towns and many other voluntary organisations too and it’s wonderful to see his volunteerism recognised in this way.

Congratulations also to Councillor Damian Boylan who took up the role as Deputy Lord Mayor for the coming year, it is a great honour for him and Blarney village.

If you wish to bring any local issues to the Community Council please make contact with any member or through our facebook page. Thank you.
