Good turnout at BCC meeting

There was a good turnout including local councilors Damian Boylan and John Sheehan, and plenty of issues raised, at the Blarney Community Council AGM last month. Addressing the meeting Sean Foley paid tribute to former chairman Kevin Conway who died in September 2020, noting the contribution he had made having ‘dedicated his life to Blarney’. Sean also wished retiring Chairman Joe O’Callaghan well as he is currently in hospital, in his absence he thanked him for his work and wished him well. The meeting saw several new Community Council members elected on the night, with officers taking roles at a subsequent meeting. With Joe Enright as Chairman and Anne Sophie Marmin as secretary; Ray Dennehy continuing as treasurer; Kate Durrant as PRO and a committee that includes Adrian O Connell, Tom O Dwyer, Frank Downey, Margot Hayes, Seán Foley, John O Donoghue, Eoin McCarthy and Patsy Long the Council have great plans for the year ahead! Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted the Council will be having regular monthly meetings again. If anyone who wants to raise issues of concern or make suggestions on how we could improve the lives of the people of Blarney just talk to any of the members.
