Inniscarra comes together

The community in Inniscarra came together last month for a clean up of the fabulous community centre. Thanks were paid to all who helped including members of Inniscarra Gaa, Inniscarra Camogie, Muskerry Rugby, and Strand United. Last year the centre hosted a GoFundMe campaign which was a great success, raising almost €6,000 from more than 100 donors. This helped to maintain the centre and to keep facilities like the walkway and the children’s playground open for most of the lockdown. Sadly, neither of these generate funding and they are once again faced with the problem of maintaining the facilities on a reduced income. The centre made an operating loss of more than €10,000 in the year 2020 with insurance costs alone €3,000. The ESB stands at €5,000, and phone bills of €1,200 still have to be paid. The grass has to be cut and burst pipes replaced. In addition upgrades for lighting to more energy efficient lighting on the walkway is needed. Granting authorities will part fund the improvement but they will also need to raise funds to supplement the grant.
