It was a big day in Blarney last weekend as we celebrated and gave thanks for our parish priest Father Michael Fitzgerald as he celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his ordination to the Priesthood. One of the corner stones that keeps our village together, and never more so than through the last difficult year, he is there for us at our best of times, worst of times and all those days inbetween. A priest to all, a friend to many, a confidant, and a man who gives much of his time and talents to so many organisations and projects throughout the village and beyond. We are blessed to call him our parish priest and wish him many more years of ministry and it was beautifully apt that his anniversary fell on the Feast of Corpus Christi, the feast of the gift of mass. “Father Michael is down to earth and is a good listener. Always willing to try different ideas after giving them due thought. His posting and choice of music kept us going during the lockdowns. Congratulations on reaching 40 years in the priesthood, may the Lord continue to bless you with good health to continue your work as our shepherd.’ Carmel Burke “Father Michael has been a friend of mine for close on 30 years now. He is a kind, warm hearted man whose love for God and all the people he serves are second to none. There is no task too big or too small for this man. A great listener and will always treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve. Best wishes Fr. Michael on your 40th Anniversary of the Ordination to the Priesthood.” Ger Hayes.
