Ballincollig students ace Leaving Cert

Ballincollig Community School proved once again it’s one of Corks leading secondary schools when Ms Lowney, the Principal, opened the school doors to the 2014 Leaving Certificate students. Some of the outstanding results the school has produced this year include; 15% of students achieving over 500 points. Honours maths students were particularly happy. Everyone who took the higher level maths paper passed and over a half of the students achieved a B grade or higher. In addition, 45% of honours Irish students also achieved a B grade or higher. The school also offers an excellent Leaving Certificate Applied programme which excelled this year too. 20% of students achieved a distinction, the highest grade attainable. Edith Waterman, Ballincollig Community School Deputy Principal commented, “The feedback from the students was extremely positive with most of them being very happy with their results” Kathleen Lowney, Ballincollig Community School Principal commented, “I was nervous myself coming in this morning for them but thank God it has all worked out. We were really happy with how the school has performed this year – it’s a fantastic start to another academic year and we look forward to seeing more great results this time next year”.
