Blarney GAA Healthy Club raises €17,000!

Blarney Village came together last weekend in a fabulous fundraiser organised by Blarney GAA Healthy Club which, as we went to print, had raised over €17Val interview 100901644_3252211658143136_526334906251345920_o,000 for four worthy charities. This initiative was organised by Valerie Kirby, Jim McEvoy, Martina McCarthy and Lisa Hedderman and raised funds for Blarney Meals on Wheels, Blarney Community First Responders, Pieta House and Marymount Hospice. People ran, cycled, and walked, all within 5km limits of course, registered the miles they had completed and them donated. Thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of the organisers, and all those who took part and donated, meals will be delivered, defibrillators will be purchased and maintained, counselling will be available and the wonderful Marymount Hospice will receive a sizeable donation. Camogie player Jennifer Murphy got the day off to an early start at midnight, and as the day dawned it seemed the whole village was up and out cycling, spinning, walking and running marathons in a day blessed by glorious sunshine.
