The local area voluntary community response team, with Cork City Council, is now up and running. A committed group of volunteers is available at all times to collect shopping and prescriptions, deliver meals, post letters, or simply lend a listening ear. It must be incredibly difficult for those over 70 to be cocooned in their homes and told not to leave, that’s not easy, but it is vitally important. This crisis is only beginning, this is no time to get careless, and we all need to take extra care of ourselves and each other. If we can do ANYTHING to help please call the dedicated community support helpline from 8am to 8pm seven days a week on 1800-222-226. And most importantly please stay at home and stay safe, if not for yourself then for those who love you.
