It has been a very busy month here and we are now working towards our sixth Green Flag – Global citizenship: Litter and waste. Global citizenship education can be viewed ultimately as education for change and is rooted in the values of fairness, justice, sustainability and human rights. It is up to us all as individuals to make a difference so future generations can enjoy the beautiful earth we have ourselves experienced growing up. Our committee consists of children from 3rd – 6th class. The Green schools committee will be working on this important and very current theme over the next two years. Thanks to all the parents who supported our recycling of clothing as a fundraiser for our school development fund.
We had great fun celebrating Science Week 2019. As the global focus of the week was Climate Change activities included discussions about what form our Green Action could take, science experiments and visits from parents who work in the field of science. Well done to our teams who represented us well in the Lifetime Lab Science Quiz.
There is a wonderful Christmas buzz to be felt everywhere as children from junior infants to 2nd class prepare for the annual Christmas performances for parents of Junior and Senior Infants.
