Vicarstown national school welcomes new school year

Our Junior Infant class is buzzing with all of our new pupils. Welcome to their teacher Ms. Buckley who has joined the school staff this year, taking over from the legendary Mrs. Siobhan Looney.

Despite the very cold spring we have a great variety of fruit and veg to harvest from our school garden. The pupils are holding courgette, kohlrabi, beetroot, rhubarb, strawberries and leeks. We have potatoes, celery and patty pan squashes growing in the garden as well along with lots of different types of flowers and are looking forward to organising a ‘Grand Harvest’ over the coming weeks.

Junior Infants 195th & 6th class are looking forward to lots of team work with their choice of Junior Entrepreneur and Vex IQ projects while everyone will try their hand at the Ukulele. These projects will be ongoing throughout the coming months.

The Board of Management, staff and pupils would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Rev. Fr. Coakley for Chairing the Board of Management, also thanks for all of his hard work as Parish Priest, a position which he held for many years. We wish him a long and happy retirement and hope to see him back in the parish often.

Our Morning and after school care clubs got off to an excellent start, children can be dropped off at school from 7.40am, minded from 1.30 – 2.30 and from 2.30 until 6pm. We already have great uptake in the service which we are delighted to be able to provide.
