There was a in Blarney as the word on the passing of Canon Vincent O’Donohue, retired PP of Blarney, came through. Canon Vincent had been in hospital recently, but we all thought he had overcome his health issues, however this was not the case. Canon Vincent passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep in his own home. Canon Vincent had made it known to me when I arrived three years ago that he wished to be laid to rest in Blarney. I am delighted that we were able to fulfill his wishes. I wish to say thanks to the following, in no particular order, the ladies of the church cleaners group, all our Sacristans in the parish, all our choirs in the parish who came together for both removal and funeral, Brian Murphy and Billy O’Connor and George O’Callaghan for the church grounds, the Altar servers, caterers in the Parochial House for the family, flower arrangers and all others who contributed in any way to the wonderful liturgy for Canon Vincent. 42 priests and 2 Bishops concelebrated. Other clergy joined in prayer with the great turnout of people. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis. Father Fitzgerald.
