Fun for all the family at Donoughmore Carnival

The organising committee of the 50th Donoughmore Carnival Monica Kennedy, Maurice Brew, Carmel O’Shea, Noreen O’Regan, Mary and Marie Wallace, have left no stone unturned in their efforts to ensure that this year’s event will be top drawer family fun and entertainment. McCormack’s Amusements will be present over the four days, and Ballingeary Pipe Band will perform at the official opening on the Thursday when a fancy dress, art competition and family sports will also feature. Friday will see inter town land rivalry in skittles, wellington throwing, ring board and soccer tennis, and for those who like less strenuous activities Carnival bingo will be available in the Community Hall. The highlight of Saturday’s activities will be the Sean Keane Concert at 8pm whilst also on the agenda are the car treasure hunt and the adult soccer match. Sunday will be all action with the All Ireland tug of war competition at 12.30pm, plus indoor bowls, macra creative skills challenge, baby show, egg tossing, farmer’s market, health and wellness tent, sheaf tossing, model farm displays and art exhibition. Colm O’Regan of ‘The Irish Mammy’ fame will be there also. Later on Sunday night the St. J Forde football match between U10 boys and U12 girls will be played. The open wellington throwing competition and skittles finals will be played into the night before the Carnival concludes for another year with a BBQ at 7pm and music by The Rogues.
