Betty is Person of the Month!

Congratulations Betty!
Blarney & District Person of the Month February 2019.
Betty Fitzgerald (B Mus) is the Musical Director and Founder of Cór Geal, a mixed choir based in Whitechurch with more than 50 members. Since it was founded in 2009 by talented conductor Betty, it has gone from strength to strength, wowing audiences along the way.
The choir has enjoyed success in competitions including Feis Maitiu, Kenmare Choral festival and Cork Choral Festival, and has also helped raise over €100,000 for various charities such as the Downs Syndrome ‘Field of Dreams’ project, St Vincent de Paul, Cope, Cancer Care, Dogs for the Disabled and many more.
Cór Geal adds to the diversity and social inclusion of community life, provides musical education for members, and is happy to sing anywhere from the City Hall, the North Cathedral, to the local church or pub. This group of enthusiastic singers work well together under Betty who is an exceptional musician, and a powerhouse of inspiration and energy.
Betty’s passion is to see choir members transformed through singing, and this passion has seen Cór Geal hit many high notes in the decade since it’s inception, adding greatly to the lives of those who sing in the choir, those lucky enough to enjoy their concerts, and the many charities who have benefited so richly.
Cór Geal are currently in Scotland to help our Celtic neighbours celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and where they will perform concerts in Edinburgh and Glasgow, sing St Patrick’s Day Mass, and entertain the Irish Ministerial delegates at the opening of Coatbridge Parade.
They are also planning a BIG Variety Concert to celebrate their 10th anniversary later this year. Watch this space!
