Ballincollig Tidy Towns need you!

Ballincollig Tidy Towns regular Sunday litter picks continue to draw large numbers of volunteers, but more help is always needed. In one week at the end of last month, twelve bags in total with three of those being segregated for recycling, were picked during the Sunday pick, whilst a pick on the approach road by two volunteers added a further half bag which was a big improvement on previous visits there. During that week Volunteers picked in a litter black spot and collected thirty nine bags of recyclable materials. Three bags of waste and two of recycling were also collected during daily litter picks on Main Street. That’s 56 and a half bags of litter taken out of out area in one week! What a difference this committed group of volunteers make! If you are interested in joining in any Sunday for the weekly litter pick simply come along to Quish’s SuperValu West End where they meet up at 11am. In additions, two Volunteers spent about ten hours inspecting the Gunpowder Walking Routes in the Regional Park. This included the longest walk which extends out of the Park taking in part of Main Street. All the signage was checked and a list of work needing to be done to refurbish markers and signs were drawn up. Want to help? You can find out more on info@Ballincolligtidytowns.ie or (087) 6348807.
