was, once again, a huge success, thanks in no small part to the voluntary committee team for all their months of hard work, and the never ending phonecalls, emails and meetings that go on behind the scenes to make it all possible! It was a fantastic five days from start to finish, kicked off by Pat O’Riordan with the very successful Festival Bingo on Tuesday night, followed by a fabulous Road Bowling Tournament ‘Thady Roche Cup’ on Wednesday organised by Tony Flynn. The Coachford 5 Mile Road Race on Thursday saw their biggest turn out to date with over 500 runners and walkers registering on the night, despite the high temperatures, and the childrens fancy dress and disco on Friday evening entertained over 150 children. Characters Minnie Mouse, Chase, Marshall and Kevin were all exhausted after the weekend and the High Nelly bike run on Saturday evening and the dog show saw record numbers enter. Finally on Sunday, the long awaited Family Fun Day saw a massive crowd turn out to see Pa O’Dwyer Ireland’s strongest man in action, victims getting soaked in the dunk tank, eggs being cracked, sheaf being tossed, clays getting shot and much, much more! The committee thanked all of their sponsors who got behind them again this year, without their continued support the festival just would not happen.
