Station learning and Bake off at Scoil Chroi Iosa

Science, Maths and Literacy was in action at the recently held 1st Class Bake Off in Scoil Chroí Íosa. The excitement was intense as the panel of judges tasted Lemon Drizzle Cake baked by Irene and the girls, and Chocolate Chip Cookies baked by Mr. Cunningham and the boys. The scores revealed a draw, much to both teams disappointment. An independent judge was brought in for the tie breaker and the winners, by a crumb, were Irene and the girls. Stay tuned for future Bake Offs as the boys attempt to claim the title!

IMG_6352Scoil Chroí Íosa we take part in Station Learning for both Literacy and maths. It has proved highly effective. Our pupils really enjoy station teaching. Children rotate between different activities, with the support of teaching staff,  including practicing their writing on the whiteboard, threading, cutting, tracing letters, making letters out of play dough, sorting activities and completing pages from their writing and Maths workbooks. Here are photographs of some of the activities that Senior Infants were doing during stations in January.
