Eire Óg U16 girls victorious!

Eire Óg U16 girls traveled to Killeagh for the quarter final of the county against Inch Rovers with great expectations and were not disappointed. Aoibhe O’Brien started the scoring in the first few minutes with a fine goal, followed quickly by another goal and a point from Meadbh Kelly. Aoibhe added another point before finishing a great move starting in the full back line when Grainne O’ Shea cleared when Inch were pressing for a goal. The movement of the forwards off the ball was first class opening up space time and again for the player in possession. The backs as they have been all year were solid and any score Inch got they had to work hard for. The second half was a a bit closer. But Eire Og kept the scoreboard ticking over . Fiona Murphy in goal was captain for the night bringing off two fine saves in the second half. The full back line of Sadbh McGoldrick Grainne O’Shea and Sinead McSweeney kept things very tight, half the back line of Sophie O’Connell, Ciara Sheehan and Sarah Collins were on the front foot for most of the game and did great work linking up with mid field and the forwards. In Midfield was Isobel Sheehan and Emma Quigley. Half forward line of Rebecca Sheehan, Meadbh Kelly and Aoibhinn Goulding always had the upper hand and full forward line of Kate Hurley, Aoibhe O’Brien and Ruth Healy worked very hard with some great inter play. Subs were Emily Coffey, Ava Halligan. Niamh O’Shea, Orlaith Cahalane and Eabha Sheehan. Inch Rovers 2-6, Eire Óg 6-11.
