Busy Summer ahead for Blarney Walking Group

The fortnightly Wednesday evening walks are continuing. These are proving very popular with a number of ‘new’ walkers turning up regularly.  Thanks to all the leaders involved and to the weather which has been kind, so far! These walks will continue during the summer months.

A memorial walk to remember two deceased club members will be held this month. The late Liz O Brien, former club secretary and Paddy Buckley, both of whom passed away in the last two years, will be fondly remembered with a walk, by club members, in Killarney. Both Liz and Paddy contributed hugely to the club and it is only fitting that they be remembered by the many who walked with them, in the place they enjoyed walking. Suaimhneas siorai do Liz agus Paddy, ni bheidh a leitheidi aris ann.

Blarney Walking Group welcomed members of Fingal Walking Club last month, the club spent the weekend in the area and joined the Blarney Group on the Knockmealdowns. Local historian John Mulcahy kindly hosted the group on an historic walk of Blarney village also.

New members are always welcome, just contact the secretary Jim O’Leary on 086 8212331 for details of membership. Happy walking!
