Courtbrack Vintage Society – Praise the Ford!

Once again, Courtbrack Vintage Society are looking forward to a busy year ahead. The first event in our calendar was our Annual Dinner & Social evening held in The Castle Hotel, Blarney, on 25th February last. The capacity crowd enjoyed an evening filled with wonderful food, lively music, and good friends. Another annual event our Club partakes in is the Irish Welch Exchange Tractor Run, which this year was held on the May Bank Holiday weekend in Pembroke, Wales. Two trucks laden with 11 vintage tractors travelled to Wales, making the Courtbrack representation 13 tractors in total. The weather was not in our favour in Pembroke, but that did not stop us from having a very enjoyable time and making many new friends. A special word of thanks to Club member, Sean O’Sullivan of SOS 24hr Recovery, for providing transport for the weekend, and also for his recent sponsorship of our new Club jackets, worn proudly in Wales! Thanks also to O’Donovan Engineering for allowing us to use their truck also. On Irish soil now again, and our thoughts turn to our own Annual Vintage Vehicle Road Run, which takes place on the 21st May. The proceeds of the Road Run this year will be donated to The Mercy Hospital and Courtbrack Community Centre Building Fund. Registration commences at 10.30am on the day, with food galore for participants both before and after the Road Run. Next up is Cork Summer Show on the 17th & 18th June, where we are honoured once again to have been asked to organise the Vintage Section. This year, to mark Ford 100 years in Ireland, we are also organising a once in a lifetime Road Run from the Old Ford Plant in Cork City to the Showgrounds at Curraheen. Our aim is to gather together as many vintage Ford & Fordson vehicles as possible at the old Ford factory premises in Cork City. All vehicles must be pre-1997. We are looking for original vintage cars, trucks, tractors, anything Ford-derived, to join us. We are especially interested in vehicles that came from the Cork plant itself. What a sight it would be to see so many vintage Fords rolling out the gates of the old Ford plant again! Entry fee is €20 per vehicle. Remake history with us, and take part in this unique event. If you own a vintage Ford vehicle, then we are calling you out. This is a call to arms to all Ford enthusiasts “Go on, show us your Ford!” Booking is essential as spaces are limited. Closing Date for entries 3rd June. To register contact John Mulcahy (087) 7838513, Tim Osborne (086) 8045467, email us at CourtbrackFord100@gmail.com,or message our Facebook Page – Courtbrack Vintage Society.
