Local development company Avondhu Blackwater Partnership has announced a series of courses promoting job creation and helping individuals prepare for re-entry into the workplace. Aimed at people who are unemployed, self-employed, or interested in upskilling or diversifying, the courses are specifically designed to increase the employability of participants and to provide supports for people interested in starting small businesses. Training courses are fully funded under the Local Community Development Programme (LCDP) and are offered free of charge to all eligible participants. Priority will be given to applicants who are currently unemployed or job insecure. Interested parties do not need to be on the Live Register to apply, although individuals who are will be given priority. The 2014 round of courses will include: FETAC 4 Basic Guarding Skills and Door Security Procedures; FETAC 5 Occupational First Aid; FETAC 6 Train the Trainer; Job Search Skills with Basic IT Skills; Forklift Counterbalance and Reach Training; Principles and Practice of Customer Service and Sales Skills; Towards Occupation; and one-on-one career coaching, jobs clinics and small business mentoring.
