It’s all business in Vicarstown

Business certainly seems to be on the cards as a future career for the fifth and sixth class pupils at Vicarstown National School as they now know all about marketing, design, accounting and making a profit thanks to The Junior Entrepreneur Programme. Popular local businessman Jim Barry, of the Mallow based Barry Group, is Cork County Partner for The Junior Entrepreneur Programme, which aims to make entrepreneurial education available to every primary school in the county. Jim said he was, ‘delighted with the calibre shown by the participating schools …that gives me great hope that the programme will continue to inspire and encourage pupils to get involved in business.’ The enterprising pupils from Vicarstown developed a ‘self decorate’ pack of greeting cards which come in a presentation box containing glue, ribbons, foam shapes and everything else you need to design the perfect card which, needless to say, sold very successfully at their showcase day.IMG_0285
