On Wednesday 20th, over 100 people turned out at Griffins of Dripsey to celebrate the 1916 Commemorative tea party where everyone experienced the history of Mna na heireann through stories, poem, song and costume while enjoying beautiful bakes from the era, which were as always baked with love by Granny Griffin. At the end of the night, Maragret Griffin was delighted to hand over a cheque for €3000 to Caitriona Twomey of Cork Penny Dinners . “Sometimes it’s hard to find words to express how grateful we are for the amount of work and effort people put into organising events for Penny Dinners so, from the bottom of our hearts, a huge thanks to Margaret Griffin and the amazing staff at Griffins Garden Centre Dripsey, to Claire Cullinane and the beautiful Cobh Animation Team, to James Scanlan and Scan Productions and to our wonderful violinist Orly Daycent for an incredible night. To all who came and supported a huge ‘thank you’ to you too. It was fabulous, “ Catriona Twomey told The Muskerry News.
