Cork City W.F.C. are delighted to announce the signing of left-sided player Lauren Murphy and defender Róisín O’Conell from Wilton. O’Connell and Murphy join recent signing Laura Lynch in signing with the club following a spell with local side Wilton United. Lauren Murphy has previously played with the club in our debut season under Dave Bell and Rónán Collins. Róisín O’Connell is delighted to have stepped up to the national stage for the remainder of the season “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to play for Cork City. There is a very talented squad of players at City and the training so far has been excellent. I’m looking forward to challenging myself and improving my game through playing at a higher level in the Women’s National League.” Lauren Murphy is also eager to return to the club since competing in the first season of the Women’s National League. Manager Niall O’Regan had this to say on the signings, “Lauren Murphy is an exceptional talent and can play in a number of positions and that versatility is brilliant for the squad. Her experience and talent is again of the highest quality and it’s so exciting to be able to add Lauren to the group.” He continued on new signing O’Connell “Róisín is another exceptionally talented player and has an amazing athleticism, coming into the group she really adds maturity and experience and has been an amazing assets in the short time she has been with us, she is gifted with the ball at her feet and her work rate is exceptional.” City will have a race night at 7pm on the Sunday 24th January in the Briar Rose with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.
