Curam de Cara Academy of Martial Arts is based in Blarney since 1979. We are affiliated to the, Irish Karate-Do Federation (IKF), Irish Martial Arts Advisory Council (IMAC) and the World Union of Karate Federations (WUKF. ) Our instructors are all highly qualified Adult Black Belts, Garda Vetted and have receivd training in first aid and child protection and we hold weekly classes in Christies Health Studios for Boys /Girls /Ladies and Gents from 5 years and upwards. Karate training has many proven benefits for both children and adults, such as Mentally; it improves disipline, confidence, concentration, focus, serenity, and stress relief. Physically; it develops good health, fitness, co-ordination, flexibility, strength and endurance It also promtes friendship, it is especially good for overcoming shyness in young people /strong character building / awareness and self defence / bully busting techniques. Curam De Cara has more than 35 years experience of teaching Karate to children and adults in a safe and friendly environment Our students are allowed to develop in stages through our grading system to Black Belt and beyond. We have produced literally scores of Black Belts over the years. It’s not easy but anyone with average ability and good commitment can achieve Black Belt Status with 4 / 5 years of training. Curam de Cara students have the opportunity to travel and compete in local ,national and international Championships .We have sent competitors to European and World Karate Championships to England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Hungary, Serbia, Poland, Belgium, U.S.A. and Japan. All these trips were partially subsidised through our parents fund raising committee. Our medals tally to date is National Championships 15 Gold 45 Silver 97 Bronze European Chamoionships none (yet) 10 Silver 17 Bronze World Championships 4 Gold 9 Silver 12 Bronze Karate is not only about earing black belts and World championship medals it is a wonderful way to keep fit, it can be an enjoyable life long past time and social outlet to share with friends. Many Karate exponents continue to exercize vigorously at 80 years and beyond.
