Blarney United FC notes

Well done to our Academy boys who braved the elements last Saturday morning to train on our all weather pitch. All new members will be made more than welcome with training 9.45am to 11am each Saturday morning. Huge congratulations to the Blarney Utd U8 and U10 girls in their recent blitz in Cobh, for many of the girls this was their first game for the club and they all played fantastic. All new members will be made more than welcome with training between 6pm to 7pm each Friday evening. Congratulations to our Finbarr Hogan, Noel Kelleher and U17 boys who played the final of the Gus Walsh Cup in Turners Cross on Friday 4th December. Back Row; Brian Walsh, Greg Barrett, James Dineen, Evan Murphy, Evan Kiely, Jason Hogan, Kian McNamara, Cian O’ Driscoll and Leon Wong. Front Row; Levi O’ Mahony, Conor Power, Declan Hanlon, Barry Dennehy, Jack Moore, Connor O’ Riordan and Alex Kiely. Missing from the picture are Aaron Kirby Hennessy. Congratulations to our U14 Premier players and management team who travelled to Wicklow and won the prestigious Nathan Steadman Harris Memorial Tournament beating some of the best teams in the country including Shamrock Rovers, Home Farm and St. Kevins Boys in the final. Blarney United would like to congratulate Ronan O Brien (who currently plays for the club) on making his first appearance for Manchester United schoolboys team on the 17th of November. The game was played in Malahide FC, Dublin and they played a Waterford selection who are the current Munster Champions in their age group. It was a very exciting game in which the Manchester United selection won 4-0, Ronan had a superb game setting up 3 of the 4 Manchester United goals scored. Ronan also won the Sketchers Cork U14 player of the month award. Last weekend Conor McCarthy played for the Irish U18 team in two games, this is a great achievement. Conor is a Blarney lad who played with the club from U7 to U16 and for the last two seasons has played U19 soccer with Cork City. Congratulations to six of our U12 boys for making the Cork Schoolboys Team; Gavin O’Sullivan, Cathal McCarthy, Jonathan Keane, Billy O’Sullivan, Cameron Lynch and Ben Maher. All the boys started with the Blarney Academy and this clearly demonstrates the great work being done by the club in developing young players.
