St. Lachteens honoured

2016 will mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising, and the official opening of the 2016 State Commemorative Programme will commence with a showcase performance at the convention centre Dublin on 1st January 2016. As part of this unique event St. Lachteens National School, Donoughmore have the honour of being selected to represent Cork and perform with a 32-County Children’s Choir and the Cross Border Orchestra. This landmark occasion will be hosted by Minister Heather Humphreys T.D., and will be performed before an audience of over two thousand invited guests and will be recorded for national broadcast. It will be a privilege for the school to participate in such a wonderful occasion. For the pupils in sixth class who are busy practicing and preparing for this event under the guidance of their teacher Aislinn Sexton it will be an honour to be part of this inimitable performance.
