The November Blarney Person of the Month is local lady Anne Gabriel. Anne, who last month celebrated three years in her popular art studio YAA It’s an Art Studio Blarney, is one is of the organisers of the fabulous Cork Toy Run, an annual motorcycle Christmas charity event which has been happening every year for over 20 years. The first event was organised by The Ducks Motorcycle Club and it has happened every year since. Various motorcycle clubs in Cork have taken on the organisation of the event and in 2012 Shamrock Rose MCC, of which Anne is a member, took it on. Last years Cork Toy Run was the biggest motorcycle Christmas charity event in the country with over 600 motorcycles in the the run from Midleton to Cork city centre via the quays. Motorcyclists travel from all over Munster to attend the event, many dressed as Santa, snowmen and elves! The run raises much needed funds for the Children’s Leukaemia Association and collects gifts for needy families under the umbrella of Barnardos. This years run, which takes place on Sunday December 13th, is extra special as it is in memory of local girl Holly who remains in so many hearts. If there is anyone who would like to donate locally, it is not too late, you can drop gifts in to Anne at YAA art studio in Blarney. Anne is assisted by local Shamrock Rose MCC members Vince Noone, Frank Lyall, Zeb, Jim Gaul, Connie Healy plus Henry O’Brien, Fidelma Cahill, Ger Cody, Craig Curtis Cork, and Mick Butler from Waterford.
