Inniscarra defeat Bride Rovers

U14CountyChampions for the second time in two weeks in the County Final of the Rebel Og U14 A Hurling Championship. Inniscarra started well with Jack Egan in particular to the fore. A foul on David Kiely led to the first pointed free by Padraig Holland. Bride Rovers then had two points but good work by the full back line of Ronan Twomey, Shane Aherne and Eoin O’Herlihy and a good save by goalkeeper Evin Cunningham kept the game tight. Jack Egan scored a wonderful point before Padraig Holland pointed two frees. After 25 minutes Inniscarra got a crucial score with Paul Hayes feeding Darragh Murphy who drove the ball to the net. Fergal O’Leary then scored a point before good work by Sean Sheehan and Jack Egan set up David Kiely for a goal. Bride Rovers responded with a goal of their own but good work by Padraig Holland set up David Kiely for another goal. Half Time Inniscarra 3 – 5, Bride Rovers 1 – 2. Bride Rovers started the second half well but again Shane Aherne and Eoin O’Herlihy were in command and Evin Cunningham made another good save.A strong run from David Kiely resulted in a foul which Padraig Holland converted. Good work by second half substitute Oisin Morris set up Jack Egan for a point before Padraig Holland had two marvellous long range points from play and another from a free. A lovely pass from Peter Sheehan set up Sean McCarthy for a point. Oisin Morris and Eric O’Callaghan combined to force a 65 which Padraig Holland converted. The score of the match then followed, the move started by Shane Aherne to Sean Sheehan onto Jack Egan and Eric O’Callaghan before Sean McCarthy split the posts. Bride Rovers then struck for two quick goals but the half back line of Jack O’Sullivan, Mark Buckley and Peter Sheehan were outstanding and Inniscarra regained control and a long range point from the brilliant Mark Buckley kept the scoreboard ticking over.David Hoare then forced another 65 which Padraig Holland converted.
