Blarney Chamber aid collection for European refugee crisis

In response to the horrendous humanitarian refugee crisis sweeping through Europe, Blarney & District Chamber of Commerce have organised a collection of aid on Saturday September 12th from 9am to 11am. Aid will be collected in a large van, thanks Damian Boylan for organising and supplying same, which will be parked in the grounds of the Church of Ireland, Blarney. Thanks to Rev. Robert for his support also. Items needed are quite specific so please bring only items from the list below. Second hand items are most welcome, but please only give something that would you give to a friend, quality over quantity. Several collection points are around this week, leading up to our collection. Thanks to our friends in O’Leary’s Centra Tower who are collecting foodstuffs. Other collection points are becoming available as we go to print so keep an eye on The Muskerry News facebook page for updated information. Items needed include; Trainers, wellies or hiking shoes (no leather, no heels) mainly men’s shoes sized from 41 – 43. Tents, covers and tarpaulins. Travelling Bags. Candles or other lighting equipment. Socks, belts, small and medium jackets (no wool). Sleeping bags, sleeping mats, blankets. Tinned food (no pasta). Tracksuit trousers and jeans size 28 – 32 waist. Hoodies and waterproofs. Mobile phones (fully working) with chargers and sim. Pots, pans, gas stoves, plastic plates, cups, kettles (not electric), leggings and thermal tops.
