Ever wondered exactly what Blarney & District Chamber of Commerce do in a one hour meeting each week? Blarney & District Chamber of Commerce caters for all businesses, be they start- ups or well established. Our aim is to connect with and support our fellow members, create a viable business community in our area and still remain true to our heritage as one of Ireland’s top tourist villages…all in one hour!
Chamber membership supports or sponsors the following; Social Media. Every business needs a social media presence and to many businesses, platforms such as Facebook,Twitter, Pinterest, Blogging and Vlogging (Video blogs) are very dirty words! We have organised very competitive social media interactive workshops with fellow member Sue Pamment (www.synergywebstrategies.com) to cater for all our anxieties as we strive to embrace social media and the business it can send our way.
Blarney & District Chamber Website blarneychamber.com is another valuable resource on which members can advertise without charge. The website has many features including an up to date business listing for all the catchment area, and a very exciting webcam coming soon that will give a live feed of our famous village square to the rest of the world!
Business training. We work closely with Avondhu Blackwater Development who provides, in conjunction with the Chamber, access to business training. More than 115 Blarney business people have attended business training provided free by the Chamber to our members.
Tourist Office. Blarney Tourist Office remains open throughout the entire year with the costs borne by Blarney Chamber, Failte Ireland, and staffing from Avondhu Blackwater. The tourist office is by far our greatest expense but in a tourist town like Blarney we see this as an investment and are happy to be in a position to support this with the help of funding from our members. All members can avail of the FREE ADVERTISING available through the TV in the Tourist Office window (kindly sponsored by DNG Kevin Condon) that is running 24/7 on the window display. Our window display is also available on a rota basis to all members who wish to physically advertise their services/products, thanks to Mary Ring Mulcahy for keeping it looking striking.
Muskerry News / Blarney Person of the Year Awards. Always worth attending if just to remind us all of how much people in Blarney do behind the scenes year in, year out, without any thought of thanks or praise.
BART. Our reassuring Community Alert Text system is paid for by the Chamber. We also support, organise or assist with the turning on of the Christmas Lights, kindly sponsored by Blarney Castle; Blarney Tidy Towns, run by the wonderful Tom McGrath and his team; Blarney Policing Forum with chairman John Henchion and Secretary Kate Durrant; Blarney Vintage Car Festival run by the hardworking Healy Family which has raised a considerable amount for charity over the years; and lastly the, soon to be reinstated, hanging flower baskets around the village which we purchased and maintain in conjunction with Blarney Tidy Towns and the wonderful Denis Murphy.
We would be delighted to see you at all/any of our meetings. We know how valuable time is and our meetings last strictly for one hour. Our next meeting will take place on Friday, 20th March at 9am at Griffins Garden Centre and will be a joint meeting with Lee Valley Business Networking Group. Looking forward to seeing you there, all very welcome. To find out about future meetings, follow us on facebook, or to receive email notification of our events, and much more, send your details to firstname.lastname@example.org Keith O’Hourihane, Pharmacy First Plus Tower, told us in a recent email just one of the reasons why he remains an active member. “I have done great business with fellow Chamber members in the past week and am embarking on a joint venture with a local business whom I met through the chamber. We will be hosting a ‘Child CPD, first aid and general health’ event at The Blarney Hotel and Golf Resort on Tuesday 7th April next. It will be a great event with a nurse speaking about CPD and first aid in kids, companies giving freebies, face painting, balloon modelling etc.” Blarney and District Chamber of Commerce … helping to make our village a better place to work, live and play.
