One lucky Waterloo lady had an extra special Christmas this year after winning €8,700 in the Whitechurch Community Lotto. Mary O’Halloran was presented with her winnings John Ryan, Chairman of the Lotto Committee at a function in Whitechurch and Waterloo Community Centre, accompanied by family, friends and fellow members of the Waterloo Renewal Group. John congratulated Mary and encouraged everyone to keep playing the weekly lotto which funds on-going development of the excellent facilities at the Community Centre complex. Community Association Chairman, Donal Hegarty, congratulated Mary on her win and outlined the huge contribution the Lotto has made to the Association since it commenced in June 2013. To date €43,000 has been provided to assist in the development of dressing rooms for the outdoor pitches which are home to Whitechurch GAA, Rockban Ladies Camogie and Football Club, Shandon Rugby Club and Waterloo Soccer Club. They will also serve the All-Weather pitches which are in constant use by clubs and other groups. As well as providing much needed funding, nearly €20,000 has been paid out in prize money with 3 weekly prizes of €50 each. The jackpot has been won on two occasions, with the first win happening when the Lotto was only 8 weeks old! Mary O’Halloran is one of over 230 members who have an annual subscription and weekly tickets, costing €2, €4 or €5 are on sale at Whitechurch Service Station, Buckleys Bar, the Waterloo Inn, Farm Power and the Community Centre.
