Busy November for Donoughmore Macra

Members attended a SafeTALK, organised by Kate O’Dwyer of Ovens Macra, on Wednesday 12th November. SafeTALK provides information on suicide awareness and prevention, and members found it very beneficial. Our Novice Debating team of Elaine O’Connell, Denise Kelleher and Daniel Buckley competed in the Cork county semi-final but were defeated by Kilmeen Macra. Well done for taking part and a special congratulations to Elaine O’Connell who was awarded ‘Best Chair’ on the night. no caption

Members also attended Bingo held by the community council on November 25th . Great fun was had by all and none of us went home empty handed. The club attended Macra’s National Fundraiser ‘A Night at the Races’ in Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium.

This was a great success, there was a huge turnout, money won and lost, and there was a great atmosphere. Donoughmore’s night was only enhanced by club member Barry O’Regan winning the novelty race at the end of the night! Macra run here, no caption The blood bank also came to Donoughmore on Monday 1st December and many members attended. Donoughmore Macra is delighted to announce that on the 6th December, club members will partake in two national finals. The Public Speaking team of Tom Carroll, Meig Collins and Emily O’Donovan will travel to Mayo to compete in the National Final. They beat off stiff competition in the semi-final where Meig Collins won the ‘Best Speaker’ award.  This will be followed by Tom Carroll competing in the National final of the Impromptu Public Speaking later the same evening. His semi-final took place in Templemore where he defeated Macra members from all over Munster. Congratulations on your success so far and best of luck. Sports continues every Wednesday night with great success. Other upcoming events include club Christmas celebrations and the Muskerry Christmas party in Killarney.
